Burcu Yaşin completed her master's thesis at Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University in the field of musicology with a thesis on the sonic politics of gentrification in Sarıgöl district of Gaziosmanpaşa/Istanbul, an area mainly populated by Romanies. In her current PhD project at Concordia University (Montréal) she focuses on the sonic memory of the 1980 military coup in Turkey.
